Integration:
DMX512: The first is the DMX0602A-DRV. This driver card is the little brother to the DMX1602A-DRV. The same high current driver outputs, only less of them. The DMX0602A-DRV has 6 current drivers with Damping, Offset, and Gain as well as a test switch. The other 2 channels are selectable PWM or 0-10vdc analog output. All 8 channels have the same ½ amp drive capability per channel. A bargain solution at only $275.00 The second new card is called the DMX0800. It has eight relay outputs all with isolated contacts and rated at 3 amps up to 250vac. This is a very low cost solution to many DMX512 problems. With a list price of $100.00 each, you can use them on many different applications. We have finally decided to sell the DMX512 decoder chip that we use on our DMX1602 card. This 40 pin chip has 16 digital and 2 PWM outputs. Included with the chip is a schematic diagram. We've included in the schematic instructions on using the PWM to allow for 0-10vdc analog outputs. Cost $40.00. Give us a call...we'll hook you up. A note about current drivers: Current drivers as opposed to voltage drivers for actuators have many advantages. Your actuators can change characteristics with heat. Using current control allows the drive current to the actuator to remain the same regardless of wire length from the driver to the actuator or the resistance changes in the actuator due to heat losses. (some limitations do apply) It also lends itself to a great means of dampening control. Since the wire length is of no real consequence, you can set up your actuators at your shop using a 6 foot test cable. Then install the 100' cable in the field and have the actuators go to the same location. (Speed can be effected by high loss or very long cables.) Heath and Fitness: Our newest batch of ERT-100s have arrived! They are ready to ship in any of our color combinations. Our new ERT-100 web site is still under construction but should be complete soon. At least until we update it again...and again...and again. Please keep an eye out for new ideas. Here is a new idea from one of our customers. He took his ERT-100 to work, so he and his coworkers are using it to time their breaks! That will get you every second you deserve!! Just tap at the start of your break and listen to the ERT-100 for when it is time to get back at it. Personal Notes: I have just completed my "run" of laser shows at the Cal Expo for 2002. (what a great hobby) It was 17 nights of Carnaval! That was quite a show! The state fair has outdone itself this time. Hope you all got a chance to see it if you are in the Sacramento area! I didn't do graphics this year, instead my laser was part of the ambient conditions that helped to create the Carnaval atmosphere. Till next time, Craig Nelson |
